Rokid Unveils AIOS, the First Native Operating System Built for AI Glasses

Rokid released AIOS, the first native operating system purpose-built for AI glasses, at Rokid Open Day 2026, along with the AIUI (AI Generated UI) interaction standard. The launch marks a shift from hardware-centric smart glasses to a system-level platform with its own intent-driven interaction model, app ecosystem, and developer community.

At Rokid Open Day 2026, Chinese smart glasses maker Rokid (乐奇Rokid) unveiled AIOS, which it bills as the world's first native operating system purpose-built for AI glasses. The company also introduced AIUI (AI Generated UI), a new interaction standard that breaks away from traditional GUI logic. The announcement positions Rokid as transitioning from a hardware vendor to a platform and ecosystem builder for the AI era.

AIOS is designed as an intent-management operating system with three core characteristics: Always On (the device stays continuously connected), Quick in/out (users can ask and walk away instantly), and Rich Content (the system dynamically generates optimal UI rather than relying on text-only responses). Rokid argues that AI-era hardware needs more than an app-launching assistant — it needs a system that can proactively understand user intent, orchestrate services, and organize information layers seamlessly.

The underlying YodaOS has been restructured as the operating system base most suited for AIOS. It uses a four-layer architecture: rapid interaction interface, multi-dimensional perception layer, intelligence capability layer, and scenario execution layer. Since product launch last September, Rokid has completed 20 OTA updates, adding 500 features cumulatively.

On the interaction front, AIUI (AI Generated UI) represents a fundamental departure from traditional GUI. Instead of pre-designed static pages, AIUI dynamically generates the most appropriate interface in real-time based on the user's question — showing a weather card for weather queries, a nutrition card for food-related questions. Information is delivered in the most visually intuitive format rather than buried in menus and buttons.

Rokid also launched what it calls the industry's first AI agent and app store for smart glasses. In less than six months, the store has listed over 440 agents, with more than 5,000 more in development. The developer community has grown to tens of thousands of registered and certified developers. Notably, Rokid opened a co-creation ecosystem where non-programmers can use natural language to turn domain knowledge into functional AI agents for the glasses.

The YodaOS development platform opens AIUI capabilities to all developers, including system APIs, AI foundation capabilities, and development tools. The platform has integrated with Alipay, Baidu AI Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and Google Cloud, connecting AI glasses to a broader service ecosystem. Everyday functions like WeChat Pay scanning, one-tap ride-hailing, and city tour guidance are gradually rolling out.

Just as Windows defined the PC era and iOS or Android defined mobile, each computing platform shift has been defined by its operating system, not its hardware. Rokid's AIOS represents the first independent operating system ecosystem for AI-native devices built outside of Android and iOS. With its own interaction logic, application format, and ecosystem model, the AI glasses category is finally stepping out of the "second screen for phones" positioning.

Why it matters

Rokid AIOS establishes the first independent software ecosystem for AI glasses, pushing the category beyond phone-dependent paradigms and creating a new competitive axis — operating system platforms — for the entire AI hardware industry.
