The new initiative, called the Moonbeam Protocol, aims to enable autonomous AI agents to discover each other, negotiate tasks, and complete payment settlement on-chain without intermediaries. According to a July 5 report cited by Korean outlet Bloomingbit from CoinTelegraph, Moonbeam described this as a strategic pivot toward what it believes is the most exciting frontier in crypto: autonomous AI agents. The team stated that AI-driven on-chain collaboration represents a long-term opportunity window worth dedicating full resources to.
No specific launch date for the new protocol has been announced. However, Moonbeam explicitly requires all existing GLMR token holders to migrate their tokens to Base by July 31, indicating that future native assets will also be issued on Base.
