Tencent Officially Releases Hunyuan Hy3 with Open-Source Access, Nearly 50 Internal Units Queue for Integration
Tencent officially released Hunyuan Hy3 on July 6, open-sourcing the model and launching its Agent capabilities on Yuanbao for free public access. The input price is as low as 1 yuan per million tokens, and nearly 50 internal business units are already queuing to integrate the model.

Tencent officially released Hunyuan Hy3, its latest large language model, on July 6, open-sourcing the code and simultaneously launching Hy3 Agent capabilities on its Yuanbao platform for free public access. This marks the first major model release since Tencent restructured its AI leadership earlier this year.
According to PANews, nearly 50 internal Tencent business units — spanning social, gaming, cloud computing, and content divisions — are already queuing to integrate Hy3. The scale of internal demand signals strong expectations for the new model across the company's product ecosystem.
On pricing, Hy3's input cost is as low as 1 yuan per million tokens, representing a significant reduction compared to previous Hunyuan model iterations. This aggressive pricing strategy directly targets enterprise demand for cost-effective AI services and could substantially lower the barrier for businesses adopting large language model capabilities.
The model features substantially improved Agent capabilities. Tencent emphasized that Hy3 was developed through deep collaboration across its product lines to deliver practical, cost-effective AI rather than chasing benchmark rankings. The Agent features are already available on Yuanbao for free user trials.
Meanwhile, Tencent is also advancing WorkBuddy+, its enterprise AI assistant, on a parallel track. Longbridge's report highlights Tencent's dual-front AI strategy: WorkBuddy+ targeting enterprise workplace productivity, while Hunyuan Hy3 addresses broader LLM service needs across the company's ecosystem.
Looking back, the Hy3 preview was first introduced in April 2026 under Tencent's new AI head Yao Shunyu, who prioritized in-context learning capabilities over benchmark chasing. The preview model topped API usage rankings on OpenRouter. The official release builds on this foundation with enhanced Agent capabilities and real-world application readiness.
By combining open-source availability with aggressive pricing, Tencent is positioning Hy3 to compete intensely in China's crowded AI model market. At 1 yuan per million tokens for input, the pricing undercuts many major domestic and international LLM APIs, potentially triggering a new round of price competition across the industry.
