UGREEN teams with Tencent WorkBuddy to explore natural-language control of local data

UGREEN (绿联科技) says it has formed an ecosystem partnership with Tencent's WorkBuddy, with the two sides exploring how AI agents and private cloud storage can work together to let users manage local data through natural language. The report comes via the financial outlet 东方财富, and the collaboration is still described in exploratory terms.

As described, the partnership addresses two halves of one scenario: where files live and how they are retrieved. Private cloud storage keeps data on hardware the user controls, while the AI agent interprets natural-language instructions and translates them into real search, sorting or retrieval actions.

The appeal of natural-language data management is that it lowers the barrier to finding things. Private cloud and NAS products traditionally depend on folder structures, naming conventions and a client app, and once a library grows, failing to locate a file becomes normal. An agent that understands meaning and returns the result directly raises the ceiling on what storage products can offer.

The harder constraint is how local data and cloud capability fit together. Private storage exists precisely so that data does not leave the user's control, while AI agents generally need inference. Whether semantic understanding can be delivered without giving up that control decides whether this becomes a real tool or a marketing feature.

Ecosystem partnerships are also a familiar way for hardware makers to fill software gaps. UGREEN's strength is in products and channels, while WorkBuddy supplies agent and collaboration software, so the combination can add AI capability to existing product lines without rebuilding a stack from scratch.

Only the intent and direction have been disclosed so far; there is no word on launch timing, feature scope or pricing. Signals to watch include whether a trialable feature appears, how data is handled between local storage and the model, and whether a storage-plus-agent combination becomes a standard configuration for private cloud products.
