Tabby launches Tabby 2.0 with Tabby Talk, an AI agent that answers finance questions and does bookkeeping

New York-based AI bookkeeping platform Tabby has launched Tabby 2.0, headlined by Tabby Talk, a chat assistant that answers financial questions in plain language and completes tasks such as tax estimates and invoice generation. The company says it now has more than 6,000 small-business users.

Tabby, a New York-based AI-native bookkeeping platform, has announced the launch of Tabby 2.0, headlined by a new AI chat assistant called Tabby Talk. The company describes it as working like a personal bookkeeper and CFO, one that answers owners' finance questions in plain English and carries out parts of the bookkeeping work for them.

In practice, a business owner can ask a question in everyday language, about spending, profit or cash flow, and get an instant answer, or have Tabby complete a task. The listed examples range from tax estimates and unpaid invoices to generating invoices and financial reports.

"Small business owners didn't get into business to become bookkeepers," said Ahad Ali, CPA, co-founder and CEO of Tabby. "Tabby Talk means you don't have to open a dashboard and dig through reports to understand your own numbers, or click through bookkeeping software to figure things out: you just ask, the same way you'd ask a bookkeeper sitting next to you, except Tabby is available anytime and already knows your books."

Ali said the update reflects a broader shift in how the company builds its product. "Every bookkeeping tool before this one was built for someone who already understands accounting," he said. "Tabby Talk is built for the owner who never wanted to." Ali spent more than a decade running a CPA firm serving small businesses before founding Tabby.

Alongside the owner-facing product, Tabby offers Tabby for Accountants, a companion platform that lets accounting and bookkeeping firms manage multiple clients' books from a single AI-native dashboard. The company says more than 200 accounting firms across the United States currently use it.

Tabby automatically syncs and categorizes transactions, giving owners real-time visibility into income, expenses, profitability and cash flow without requiring them to become bookkeepers. The company says it has grown to more than 6,000 small-business users since publicly launching in July 2025.

The launch follows a recent TechCrunch feature on Tabby and its founder, and Tabby's selection to TechCrunch's Startup Battlefield 200 for 2026. The announcement came through a corporate press-release channel, so feature specifics should be read as the company's own claims.

Why it matters

The launch shows vertical AI agents moving from answering questions to completing work, bringing bookkeeping, traditionally a specialist task, within reach of non-experts. If it holds up, AI-native tools could reshape how small-business services are priced and delivered.
