Alipay Launches AI Open Platform: One Integration, Multi-Device Distribution Across Phones, Cars, and Smart Glasses
Alipay officially launched its AI Open Platform on July 7, opening AI integration capabilities to merchants, institutions, and service providers. Businesses can connect to Alipay's AI assistant 'Abao' and distribute services across smartphones, car systems, AI glasses, and IoT devices with a single integration, marking a shift from search-based to conversational service delivery.
On July 7, Alipay officially launched its AI Open Platform, opening AI integration capabilities to merchants, institutions, service providers, smart device makers, and large model platforms. The launch represents a significant milestone in Alipay's AI strategy, transitioning from traditional search-and-click service delivery to conversational AI-powered interactions.
The core transformation lies in the interaction model: instead of searching, clicking, and navigating through pages, users will speak their needs directly to AI, which understands, matches, and executes services to complete transactions. Li Jun, President of Alipay's Business Group, stated that AI agents will become autonomous action units in the AI era, and the AI Open Platform aims to build a cross-device interconnection hub covering agent generation, distribution, interaction, and payment.
Merchants connecting to Alipay's AI assistant 'Abao' can reach Alipay's 1 billion users and also enable cross-device distribution across smartphones, car infotainment systems, AI glasses, IoT devices, and large model platforms through a single integration. Major brands including KFC, Mixue, Luckin Coffee, Gaode Taxi, and Didi have already joined as首批(early adopters), covering dining, transportation, travel, and lifestyle services.
The platform offers flexible integration: merchants can upgrade existing mini-programs and APIs into AI-callable components without rebuilding from scratch. It supports zero-code/low-code setup for simple cases and integrated industry solutions for complex scenarios. Alipay also introduced the AHA protocol (Agent Hub Access), designed to solve cross-app and cross-device service invocation, positioned as an industry standardization protocol aligned with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology guidelines on AI agent interoperability.
On the payment infrastructure side, the ACT 2.0 protocol (Agentic Commerce Trust Protocol), co-built by the IIFAA Internet Trusted Authentication Alliance with Alipay, Zhipu AI, and over 20 other vendors since April, provides a payment capability framework and trust mechanism for agent interactions. Li Jun emphasized that the platform aims to provide trusted and secure infrastructure for future agent network connectivity, making the shift from 'people finding services' to 'services finding people' both trustworthy and visible.
Why it matters
Alipay's AI Open Platform marks the largest mobile payment ecosystem's transition into the AI agent era, potentially reshaping how hundreds of millions of users interact with services across multiple devices.

Anthropic Discovers Claude's Hidden 'J-Space' — A Brain-Like Region Whose Removal Cripples Reasoning
Anthropic has identified a hidden representational region inside Claude's neural network called 'J-Space,' which exhibits structured characteristics resembling human cognitive maps. Researchers found that removing or disrupting J-Space caused Claude's reasoning capabilities to degrade sharply, offering an unprecedented window into how large language models organize internal knowledge and perform logical operations.
