KPMG US announced a strategic alliance with OpenAI on Wednesday, positioning itself as an OpenAI Elite Partner to help organizations across the public and private sectors reimagine how employees and customers interact with enterprise software. The alliance marks a significant effort to move beyond traditional application-centric experiences toward a new operating model where AI becomes the system of engagement while enterprise applications serve as the systems of record.

Internally, KPMG is partnering with OpenAI to design and deploy an AI-native Supply Chain and Fulfillment Orchestration platform that unifies supply chain operations, fulfillment, and finance through intelligent workflows and agents. KPMG is working within OpenAI's own environment as a "client-zero" deployment to demonstrate how organizations can transition to an AI-first enterprise model.

KPMG will accelerate delivery through a forward deployed engineer (FDE) model, embedding senior engineers directly alongside OpenAI teams. KPMG FDEs will go through OpenAI's FDE certification program to rapidly translate business needs into production-ready solutions. This approach represents a significant step toward headless SaaS experiences that simplify how people access information and make decisions across enterprise systems.

On the public sector front, the alliance will modernize KPMG's KRIS Connected suite of SaaS solutions for US state and local governments. KPMG and OpenAI will help government agencies move from siloed legacy systems to connected case management, service delivery, and decision support, enabling incremental modernization with reduced risk.

The alliance also builds on KPMG's participation in the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, combining OpenAI's cyber capabilities with KPMG's cybersecurity and trusted AI services to help organizations defend against AI-driven threats.

This partnership signals that professional services firms are moving beyond simply advising on AI to deeply embedding AI capabilities into their own operations and client solutions, potentially reshaping the multi-trillion-dollar enterprise software market.
