Anthropic Posted a $450K Sales Role Devoted Solely to Meta — Then Closed It in a Week

Anthropic recently posted an unusual opening on its careers page: Mega Account Executive, Meta. The role serves exactly one customer, Meta itself.

The compensation is hard to miss. The listing quoted on-target earnings of $380,000 to $450,000, or roughly 3.2 million yuan at current exchange rates.

The posting was also short-lived. It went live on September 3 and closed on September 9, and the page now shows that it is no longer accepting applications.

The requirements are demanding. Anthropic asked for at least ten years of enterprise sales experience, familiarity with procurement at large technology companies, and a record of handling long, multi-stakeholder deals.

In practice, the hire would identify teams inside Meta that could adopt Claude and drive them from discovery and technical testing all the way through procurement and signing. The description also calls for building relationships from frontline engineers up to the C-suite, and for carrying Meta's feedback back to Anthropic's product and engineering teams.

Pay is structured as OTE, or on-target earnings — the total a rep can expect if they hit their targets, split between base salary and commission or bonus. Falling short means less; beating the target can mean more.

Why is Meta such a large target? According to the report, Claude Code took hold inside Meta early this year, where engineers use it heavily. The New York Times reported that Meta's potential annual spend on Anthropic could reach $10 billion.

Enterprise customers have become a central revenue engine for Anthropic. Reuters reported that Anthropic's annualized revenue had passed $65 billion by the end of July, which would put Meta's potential upper bound at roughly 15 percent of that figure.

A single-customer sales post of this size says a lot about where the money now is in the model business: a handful of hyperscale buyers can move a vendor's topline. What the source does not say is why the opening vanished after a week — whether it filled instantly or the scope changed is still unclear.
